A date which will live in infamy. Let's remember those who lost their lives 70 years ago in Pearl Harbor and the others who lost their lives after that, true heroes.
I remember visiting Pearl Harbor when I was 12 years old. It was shortly after September 11th so either way it would have hit close to home. It was so quiet taking the boat ride to the USS Arizona Memorial. Walking up to the wall with all the names on it was so depressing. The water had oil floating on top of it still, and you can see all the sunken ships and their parts in the clear blue water. Afterwords I got to meet a few survivors of the attack. They were the sweetest old men, and were so proud. I was so proud of them. I couldn’t imagine what the fear must have been like for them back then and the what they still had to deal with. I owe them my life and find their sacrifice the greatest thing in the world, because they sacrificed for me.
